Our story

Picture this: A short, snotty little 5 year old girl left alone to play in the front yard where her grandma grows her flowers. Her creativity is sparked, and what does she do? Destroy the flowers that have taken a long time to grown and bloom, but she doesn’t see it that way, she sees: pink flower petals that can be smushed with water to make pink paint. She sees white petals that can adorn an isle for her dolls wedding. She sees decorations for her hair and her dogs ears. That is until…. Her grandmother goes outside to check up on her, and she notices the mess, and the destroyed flowers she’s been patiently waiting to cut and adorn her house with all gone in a matter of an afternoon, and the now dirty little girl standing in the middle of it all. But she can’t scold her first and only granddaughter because one: she’s only five years old and two: she doesn’t listen anyway.

I guess I’ve always been attracted to flowers and the possibility of happiness that they bring to people of all ages, could be children could be elderly. But over time, the interest diminished, other things took priority, adult life and worries started to take over. However the attraction came back, my interest was sparked again. Which is how Aldy’s Flowers came to be, now along side my grandmother. We want to bring memories to people that revolve around flowers. We want to bring smiles to faces both young and old. Just like the stories we have of a mischievous little girl destroying her grandmothers garden. They say children are never good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them. Which is why I’m really grateful for my grandmother, a person who I’ve grown to imitate for her love of flowers.
